@3THE CHANGING TITLE THEME
@2========================
@1
Fans have noted that the Doctor Who theme music used has not been
consistent over the years. The theme has developed from a simple
pleasant theme, with a futuristic feel at the time, to a modern track
which still shared the same basic idea.
From memory there have been a number of different themes and also
different title sequences to go with them. These are:
1/ Original theme, with black and titles.
2/ Troughton pictures (theme identical?)
3/ Pertwee (1)-Different theme music
4/ Pertwee (2)-Same theme music
5/ Baker (1)-Same music
6/ Baker (2)-Different music
7/ Davison-Same music
8/ C. Baker-Same music
9/ McCoy-New music and titles
There may have been some changes to the theme that I have forgotten to
list or comment on, but I believe that I have the major ones.
There have also been some obscurities:
1/ Movie theme
2/ "The YYY Years" tapes theme
3/ "Dimensions In Time" theme
4/ "30 Years In The TARDIS" theme?
5/ "Paradise Of Death" theme
6/ Various commercial CDs/tapes and fan produced themes.
In this case there are almost certainly some that I have missed. For
instance it seems likely that the stage shows may have had some sort
of Who related theme tune and also some of the conventions may have
used their own adapted mix. However all in all it should be clear that
the original theme has sported a host of copies and a well recognised
groaning sound!
